3.4 Quality Services Project Part 1 Choice (GRADED ASSIGNMENT)

Purpose

This assignment is designed to offer you a way to look at the services YOU see and that YOU provide or are expecting to provide to individuals with disabilities. You are to identify opportunities to improve service quality for each individual you support or are expecting to support. If you are currently working with people, you will be looking at YOUR services and their effect on individual life quality in the areas of choice, relationships, lifestyle, health and well-being, rights and personal satisfaction. If you are currently not working with anyone with a disability, then you will answer the questions from the perspective of how you might address these areas and how would you know if the persons needs are being met in each of the areas.

The goal of EACH section of this assignment is to objectively look at current services that you are providing or that you can observe and develop ways to make things better, to improve quality for people, provide meaningful experiences on a daily, weekly and regular basis. You re going to develop ways that enhance services BEYOND what is “expected” BEYOND what is typical. This assignment is challenging you to one your eyes and look BEYOND the basics. You will write about what you can do that is creative and providing really exciting and cool things for people. I am not looking for checking boxes for Regional Center, or Community Care Licensing or your boss. This is a creative project for you to develop really cool things for people. BUT, you have to be specific. It’s a business plan or sorts, a creative plan for each of the covered areas….. choice, relationships, lifestyle, health and well-being, rights and personal satisfaction. And what you write cannot be repeated, you have to build upon your ideas as you complete each section.

This is a SELF ASSESSMENT of sorts, developing creative ways to improve and enhance quality.

Please do not tell me what the people you are working with are doing. Do not tell me about the people, please tell me about how you are going to provide new specific quality services. Do not tell me about the policies of your program. Tell me about your creative solutions to meeting the needs of the people you support and HOW you will implement these ideas. You will do this using SMART Goals Format.

I want you to take time to assess what you are doing. INSIGHT!

How are your supports working or not working with the people you work with? POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE.

How do you know what you are doing is working? EXPLAIN how you know.

HOW can you make changes to improve life for those YOU support. HOW?

I want to hear about what you are doing in these areas and how you know what you are doing is successful. I want to see you look at yourself critically and develop areas where you can improve. The end result is to improve services. We do this by starting with ourselves.

Instructions:
