These instructions are based on a task we've worked on previously. If you're looking for an answer to the same assignment, you'll need to submit an order on our writers' platform to receive a unique paper that you can confidently present as your own work. Read our "How It Works" page for more information.

Academic fields of study are not static entities. The knowledge base within a field evolves through research, professional application, and the discourse in which participants in the field engage. The relationship among these three practices may be seen as bidirectional and cyclical in effect. Research and application affect discourse, and discursive communication affects how research and application is conceptualized, designed, and practiced.
This week, you begin a course-long project called an Environmental Scan. The Environmental Scan is an 8-week survey of evaluation topics and discourse in the professional community of evaluation. For this Assignment, you will observe professional websites, social media, magazines, online conferences, blogs, and other literature dedicated to evaluation topics (note that these do not have to be empirical research) and record your notes and reflections on what you read as blog posts in a running document. Your task is to describe what you find as well as identify and discuss themes and trends in the content. You should also track and discuss themes and trends in the comments and feedback left by commentators (e.g., blog comments or social media responses).
The purpose of this scan is to track topics and activity over time to observe and synthesize knowledge being discussed or generated by evaluation professionals. Completion of this assignment should mimic the process for completing a needs assessment in a program evaluation.
As noted in the Environmental Scan Guidelines, your observation of the environment (i.e., professional websites, social media, blogs) should be that of observer. While enrolled in this course, you do not need to be a contributor to the professional communities that you are observing for this assignment.
